Venue 17 - 52 Harcourt Road
Jo began painting six or seven years ago at wonderful classes at Stoke Lodge, here in Bristol. The title of classes appealed – “ ...With Spontaneity!”, watercolours to start with and after a couple of years, acrylics too.
Painting has provided a real and absolute escape. Beginning usually with images in nature Jo uses brushes, sponges, cardboard, tissue paper, twigs, string and all-sorts to create her own semi-abstract version of the beauty she sees in our world. She is a very messy worker who is so grateful to have found a creative field which is totally absorbing and gives so much delight – amid the inevitable frustration when things don’t go quite as envisaged. This will be the first time Jo has exhibited anywhere other than at Stoke Lodge. |
